Jamshedpur: Vishal Lohar (three goals) and Dugu Soren (two goals) powered Netaji Subhas Public School, Pokhari to a thrilling 6-2 victory over Vig English School in a senior boys’ league match of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Saturday.

Vishal and Dugu matched each other’s skills at the Armoury Ground. Player of the match Vishal opened the account for NSPS 11 minutes into the match and followed it up with another in the 28th minute, indicating enough how goal-hungry he was. Teammate Dugu then scored the third goal for his team in the 37th minute.

Initially Vig English School boys did try to put up some fight as Naved Anjum brought them back into the game by scoring in the 33rd minute but Vishal and Dugu put paid to their aspirations. Vishal again struck in the 42nd minute to take the match beyond Vig English School while Aditya Gupta netted the fifth goal for NSPS. Kunal Karmakar reduced the margin to 5-2 for Vig English School but Dugu then scored his second goal to complete his team’s domination.

On the other hand, it was sheer teamwork by Shyama Prasad Inter College, Khasmahal that helped them upstage SS Plus2 High School 3-0 at Tinplate Sports Complex in another senior boys match. Sudan Mardi scored the first goal in the 28th, Lakhan Guiya swelled the lead in the 34th and Raghunath Hembram consolidated it in the 38th minute.
In another senior boys’ league match, player of the match Jusco School, South Park downed Hill Top School 3-1.

Hrithik Dey led from the front by opening the account in the 15th minute. Teammates Astitva Raj backed it up with another goal in the 22nd minute and Kumar Utkarsh scored the third in the 46th minute. Shivam Srivastava netted the solitary goal for Hill Top in the 60th minute but by that time fate of the match was sealed.

In the junior boys’ league, Vig English School edged past Kerala Public School, Kadma 1-0 through a goal by Bijay Mahato in the 3rd minute.

Senior boys: Netaji Subhas Public School, Pokhari (NSPS), Pokhari bt Vig English School 6-2, Shyama Prasad Inter College, Khasmahal bt SS+2 High School 3-0, Jusco School, South Park bt Hill Top School 3-1, Dakshin Bharat Mahila Sangh (DBMS) English High School, Kadma drew Jamshedpur Cooperative College 0-0, Central Public School bt Gulmohur High School 2-1.
