Jamshedpur, Jan. 15: Movement of trains travelling via Tatanagar railway station will hit from tomorrow. Two repairs and maintenance job of tracks and signalling apparatus, termed non-interlocking in railway parlance will affect the movement.
Non-interlocking ( NI) work at Sone Nagar junction in Mughalsarai ( Bihar) of East Central Railway and a similar exercise at Champa railway junction at Chhatisgarh falling under South East Central Railway zone would affect movement of trains for over a fortnight.
The Puri-New Delhi Neelanchal Express will remain cancelled on January 18, 20, 22 and 25 while the Dn train will remain cancelled on January 18, 20, 22 and 27.
The Tata-Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express will remain cancelled on January 16, 21 and 23 while the Dn Jallianwala Bagh Express will remain cancelled on January 18, 23 and 25.
Tatanagar station director H K Balmuchu said that they got an official circular regarding the railway job. “We had spread the message for the passengers so that they are aware about the decisions. The block would be undertaken for modernisation work of railway tracks and signalling system,” he added.
Chakradharpur is the highest revenue earning railway division in terms of freight in the country. Notably, about 150 passenger trains pass through various stations of Chakradharpur railway division every day. The Tatanagar station assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route.
Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers daily.
