Jamshedpur, Jan 12: Wheels 2020 finals organised by Tata Motors GET Club will kick off amid colourful programmes on January 16 and will continue till Sunday, January 19.
On the opening night Bangalore based Lagori band which combines Indian classical melodies and inflections with Rock music will perform on Thursday, January 16.
Mega nite is scheduled for January 19 where Indian rock band ‘Indian Ocean’ widely recognized as the pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India will perform at Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium where singer Arjun Kanungo will rock the venue with his hit numbers. For the first time Tata Motors along with employees of internal organisations as part of the corporate night events have been lined up. They will also showcase their talent during the wheels.
First rolled out in 1987, this year the theme for 33rd edition of Wheels is “Aarohan-Ascending Towards Goals.” It promises a scintillating line up of intellectual and fun events, informative workshops and many learning opportunities for all age groups.
Manas Mishra, senior general manager, Tata Motors and chairman of the committee informed that slowdown effect is seen on wheels events but as the theme for 33rd edition of Wheels is “Aarohan-Ascending Towards Goals” the members of the GET club have achieved their goals despite the recession. Addressing a press meet at Telco Club on Saturday, Mishra said, this year several new events have been included in Wheels 2020. All round development of students is the aim behind conducting Wheels.
Ravi Singh, GM, Tata Motors said, people show interest in newness and keeping this in mind several new events have been included. The organisers informed that over 12000 have registered from 200 schools. 33 events will be held over a period of four days.
Singh further said, like every year, Wheels will also hold a Mega Marathon on January 23 under three categories 3k, 7k and 10k. This event presents a thrilling opportunity for people of all ages. The cash prize of upto 50 k and exciting goodies would be an extra motivation to sweat for.
The much awaited and highly acclaimed event organised by G.E.T Club involves the whole hearted participation from schools all over the city of Jamshedpur.
Wheels prelims were conducted from 26 to 28 December which saw 500 students qualify for the finals.
Also present at the press conference were Nirja Mishra, Ajay Kumar, Amitav Sahay, Rajeev Bansal, Akansha and Piyush Kumar.
