Jamshedpur, Oct 6: YBN College Ranchi qualified for the Red Bull Campus Cricket 2020 national finals after winning two of its matches. Teams from Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Patna played against each team. The 9th edition of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2020 began with qualifier round and city eliminators.
Teams from Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati will play against other regional teams. In the first match YBN College Ranchi defeated BIT College Patna by 23 runs. Batting first after losing the toss YBN College Ranchi managed to score 100 runs in 18.5 overs. Chasing 101, BIT College were all out for 77 runs. Vinay Jena of YBN College who scored 57 runs of 44 balls was declared the man of the match. In the second match YBN College beat Co-operative College Jamshedpur by 2 wickets. Jamshedpur Co-Operative College team scored 108 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in alloted 20 overs. YBN College achieved the target with 5 balls to spare. Navneet Jha of YBN College was awarded man of the match for his not out 34 runs of 30 balls. Jamshedpur Co-Operative College defeated BIT College Patna by 50 runs via duckworth lewis method.
The tourney is being held in colleges at 32 cities throughout the country and the qualifier of each city will play in the regional or zonal final. The purpose of organizing this tournament is to discover promising cricketers at college levels who would be future material to play representative cricket at higher levels.
