Jharkhand reports 724 fresh cases, tally climbs to 13606
Jamshedpur/Ranchi, Aug 3: Coronavirus horror is increasing in Jharkhand. Five COVID-19 patients in Jamshedpur died of the virus on Monday, August 3 taking the state toll to 127. On the other hand 724 new corona positives have been reported in Jharkhand on Monday.
COVID cases in the East Singhbhum district took surge, with total number of Coronavirus positive cases has crossed 2200 mark and the total number of deaths due to the deadly virus has climbed to 42 in Jamshedpur. Record 149 cases were recorded in Jamshedpur on Monday.
Those died today include a 77-year-old woman who was a resident of Mango locality, a 86-year-old of Rajendra Nagar in Sakchi, a 47-year-old man of Jugsalai, a 64-year-old woman of Shastrinagar in Kadma and a 76-year-old man, also a resident of Bhatia Bustee in Kadma.
Except for the 47-year-old Jugsalai resident, all the four deceased had other ailments. The 86-year-old man who was from Rajendra Nagar in Sakchi was also diagnosed with dengue.
Expressing concern over the growing number of Covid cases in the city, East Singhbhum civil surgeon Rajendra Jha despite the district administration making all efforts, the people are not adhering to the rules of wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
“People are not taking the virus seriously. Markets are flooded with people. If the people continue to evade following the norms of maintaining social distance and wearing masks, then the number of Covid cases may increase further,” said Jha.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has crossed 2200 mark.
149 new cases were reported on Monday, August 3 taking the East Singhbhum tally to 2262.
The district administration spokesperson informed that 149 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Monday. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.
Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Bokaro 8, Deoghar 9, Dhanbad 4, East Singhbhum 149, Gumla 23, Hazaribagh 90, Jamtara 41, Khunti 92, Latehar 31, Lohardaga 1, Pakur 12, Palamu 8, Ramgarh 54, Ranchi 130, Sahebganj 34, Seraikela 13, and West Singhbhum 25 taking the state corona tally to 13606.
For 21 days in a row over 200 cases have been reported every single day in the state.
Five deaths have been reported in Jharkhand on Monday, August 3.
The death toll in Jharkhand stands at 125 while corona positive tally has climbed to 13606.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
The Jharkhand government has ordered an extension of lockdown related restrictions in the state outside containment zones, up to August 31, due to COVID-19 cases.
The order will come into effect from August 1. Meanwhile, Jharkhand government issued measures for the implementation of interstate quarantine protocol, to all Additional Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary, IG and Deputy IG.
The order said that “All economic activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted.”
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 8581 and fatalities at 125 while 4794 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
