Women play Holi with flowers at Sonari, worship Shiva-Parvati
Jamshedpur: Bhayali Mahila Mandal, Sonari, celebrated Gangaur festival with great fervour on Sunday. Hundreds of women belonging to Rajasthani community participated in the celebrations held at Rajasthan Bhavan, Sonari. The festivity kicked off with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. All participating women danced while singing Gangaur song. The chief guest of the event was Prabha Padiya.
During the celebrations, unmarried girls and women worshipped Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They also played Holi with flowers.
Two veteran women, Gayatri Agrawal and Santra Agrawal, were felicitated during the programme. They stressed on the need to preserve the rich Indian tradition and culture.
Various competitions including folk dance contest, fancy dress and sports events were held for the participants. The winners were felicitated by the guests. The programme was chaired by the outfit president Anita Agrawal.
Among those present on the occasion included Kusum Naredi, Sarita Diwan, Santosh Gupta, Rekha Harlalka, Bimla Verma, Suman Agrawal, Shobha Jain, Maina Agrawal, Varsha Agiwal, Chanda Agrawal, Priyanka Agrawal, Vandana Jain, Preeti Agrawal, Sangeeta Agrawal and Priyanka Sharma.
