IEI Jamshedpur organizes seminar on “Major Advances and Sustainable Development in Production Engineering”
Jamshedpur, July 16: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jamshedpur Local Centre organised All India seminar on “Major Advances and Sustainable Development in Production Engineering” in the institute’s premises. The two-day event began on Saturday.
Avneesh Gupta, Vice President, Shared Services, Tata Steel presided over the function. Amitava Bakshi and Pralay Pal was the Key-note Speaker on the day. Seven number of paper were presented during 1st technical session. Remaining two technical sessions will take place on July 16.
Dr. Shalendra Kumar, Organising Secretary, Dinesh Kr Prasad, Jt. Organising Secretary, and Dr. Anil Kumar Choudhury, Hony. Secretary of the Institution also spoke during the function. A large number of persons from Industrial Organizations and Educational Institutions actively participated in the seminar.
B K Das, Chief Guest of the function spoke on condition based monitoring and sustainabilities.
‘To increase the efficiency of the machines it is essentiality required to monitor the status/health of machine continuously. Tomorrow machines will be manufactured with in-built sensors and it is the prime duty of engineer to keep our earth which has been given to us by our ancestor in good and healthy condition which is required for our future generation.
Amitava Bakshi, Guest of Honour of the function delivered a key note lecture on supply chain management (SCM) and sustainability. He emphasized on the fact all vendor in the supply chain will be converted from globe to local. The SCM will be one of the key factors to enhance the productivity of the Industry.
Dr. P Paul, Sr. Programme Manager, Tata Technologies, said, both productivity and sustainability are important. They are not opposite to each other but complementary to each other. Productivity is the commitment to excellence and sustainability is the masterful balancing of fulfilling our own requirements without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to do so. He emphasized on the parameters like digital product development system (DPDS). Team of the system in Tata Motors ascertain for their clients regarding Tooling lifecycle management, Prototype lifecycle management, Interchange ability of digital product data, Collaborative visualization and Digital (SHE) safety, Health, Environment.
Dr. Shalendra Kumar, Organising Secretary, said, this seminar will provide an opportunity to all the participants to work more closely with similar fraternity and peers. It also provides an opportunity to all levels of learner of technology to share same platform and exchange their innovative ideas to survive manufacturing sector.
Many dignitaries from Institutions and Industry were present during function. B K Das , Vice President, Iron Making was the chief Guest and Amitava Bakshi, Chief Procurement officer, Tata Steel was the Guest of Honour for inaugural function .
