Students’ creativity comes to the fore
Jamshedpur, Dec. 22: The prelims of ‘Wheels 2019’ concluded amid much fanfare with students displaying their creativity in seven events held on the final day on Saturday. Altogether 6000 students displayed their talent during the three-day prelims.
Gaming events including Counter Strike, NFS, Wheel Premier League (Cricket) and Novelty Soccer League organised on all three day of the prelims also came to a close on Saturday. More than 600 teams in football and 700 teams in cricket displayed their talent over three days.
Enthusiasm ruled the last day of the prelims as students lined up to display their hidden talent.
The day started with ‘Rangsaji’ at Hill Top School where participants unleashed their painting talent which made the whole ambience colourful.
The next event ‘Vakrita’ at Management Training Centre saw participants deliver powerful speech. More than 200 students attended the contest. The event gave the students a platform to hone their oratory skills.
‘Scavenger Hunt’ event at Engineers Hall (Parking Lot) tested the mettle and skills of the participants. Students had to solve mind boggling clues and hunt down the hidden treasure. This event drew the maximum students.
Management Training Centre also hosted ‘Wit- Standup Comedy’ were students were grouped in three categories: 1st group- 1-5th class, 2nd group -6-12th class and 3rd group -others. The participants were judged on the basis of content, presentation and entertainment.
‘Antaragni’ at Telco Recreation Centre saw students playing guitars with soothing music. More than 20 bands of Jamshedpur participated in the event. The music genre list included different categories were participants brought out their zeal. According to organisers additional points will be awarded for an original song.
Next on the list was ‘Facial Art Freaks’, a face painting competition held at Hill Top School.
The students’ inner creativity was on display through colours which conveyed their innovative ideas. The face painting options ranged from cheek art, partial face, full face, or body even.
The prelims concluded with ‘Pocket full of Words’ event at Engineers Hall (Mess). The contest provided a platform for the young to voice their writings. The event aimed at spreading ideas through creative skills. The participants were free to write a hundred words or aim for a hundred thousand.
Marathon will take place on 23rd of December 2018 with the underlying agenda of taking a pledge for sustainable use of ‘ENVIRUNMENT-Let’s Paryavaran’. The marathon will be flagged off from Telco Club Cricket Ground at 6 am.
This year the theme for 32nd edition of Wheels is “ANKURAN-Nurturing Innovations”. Organised by the Graduate Engineer Trainee (G.E.T) Club, the finals of ‘Wheels 2019’ will take place from 11th to 13th January, 2019.
