Jamshedpur, May 30: Amid on going power crisis in the city, Minister of Health and Disaster Management, Banna Gupta on Friday promised that the power scenario will be improved in next 72 hours. He said that during a meeting at local Circuit House, he has asked the authorities to address all the issues concerning poor power supply.  

He said that the electricity department should strictly act against the big defaulters. He directed the officials of Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (JUVNL) to prepare a proposal to increase the capacity of Baliguma grid and also directed the concerned officials for land identification for a sub-station in Mango region.

Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saurav Kumar Sinha were present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Minister discussed the power woes in detail and discussed with the officials for its execution. Gupta directed the authorities to prepare an action plan to repair faults. He said that areas like Kadma, Sonari, Mango, Azadnagar have been hit. The department should identify the faults and address it.  

He said that AB swtiches have not been installed in about 225 transformers. He asked the officers to prepare a proposal for installing the switches. Air Break Changeover Switch is an essential unit of all overhead power transmission line which is used to connect or disconnect the power system of a certain part of overhead cable and transformer from the main power distribution line.

Over two lakh residents living in the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL)in the steel city are facing frequent power cuts for a prolonged period. Localities like Mango, Azadnagar, Birsanagar, Baridih, Govindpur, Parsudih remained without power since 10.30 pm on a day when the city did incidentally reeled under a blistering heat .

Moreover, the power cuts were experienced during a sweltering heat despite the fact almost all industrial units as well as commercial establishments are closed due to ongoing lockdown.
