Jamshedpur No Comments on Police tow vehicles parked in ‘no parking’ zones at Sakchi 5336

Jamshedpur : Traffic police on Monday launched a crackdown against unauthorized parking at behind ADLS Sunshine School Sakchi. The two-hour long drive which saw a crane being used to tow away illegally parked vehicles, saw 15 two-wheelers being towed away to the Sakchi police station.

Traffic DSP Vivekananda Thakur said that they had been conducting towing away of vehicles found parked in unauthorised manner on busy arteries especially on Bistupur Main Road. However, from today they started similar drive as we have engaged a crane specifically for Sakchi traffic police. Earlier, a crane was kept at Bistupur police station and served areas near Bistupur.

The traffic police have adopted a new strategy against parking violators, while it pasted prosecution slips on those vehicles whose owners/operators were found nearby while those vehicles found parked in prohibited areas without any sight of the operator or driver were towed away in a crane.

The traffic DSP further said that directives have been issued to all the five traffic police post officials to arrange for cranes and undertake similar towing exercise to reign in rogue parkers.

“We have asked our team to carry crackdown against rogue parkers at all the five traffic police posts at Jugsalai, Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango and Golmuri. Bistupur has been doing it and it began at Sakchi today. Similar drive will begin at Golmuri, Mango and Jugsalai too,” noted Vivekananda Thakur.

The drive at Sakchi led by traffic inspector, along with some 10 traffic police constables on the four-lane Sakchi-KalimatiRoad which witnesses a traffic volume of nearly a lakh vehicles daily saw prosecution slips being pasted on those vehicles whose owners/operators were found nearby while vehicles at no-parking areas with their operator or driver nowhere in sight were towed away in a crane to the Sakchi police station.

On Day One of the drive , prosecution slips were pasted on nearly 20 vehicles while 15 vehicles were towed away and released after owners paid fines (Rs 500 for illegal parking as per MV Act).

Concerned over the rising cases of road mishaps in city and to ensure free flow of traffic on roads in the city, East Singhbhum district traffic police have decided to act tough on vehicle owners parking on unauthorised area. The idea is to keep a check on mishap points to reduce traffic congestion and accidents in city. The move comes after people complained of snail pace of movement of vehicles on roads as vehicles are parked on both sides of the roads making them narrower.
