Jamshedpur, Sept. 23: In a major breakthrough, police nabbed a truck loaded with `doda’ by arresting two persons at Kuchai police station area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday.
The consignment of `doda’ (opium flower) was being carried to a secret location by two persons. Those arrested were identified as Amar Mandal and Mukesh Keshri in a mini-truck past midnight.
Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Mohammed Arshi said that acting on a tip off that a consignment of doda will be carried from the interior of Kuchai police station area in Kharsawan through Gopidih Square in Kuchai police station area past midnight, a team was formed.
“We came up a team which was led by SDPO, Seraikela, Rakesh Ranjan. As the police team was waiting for the doda consignment, several vehicles were examined as they passed through the area. At last, one of the mini-truck that was fully loaded appeared. On intercepting the vehicle, two persons got down and started running toward the village side, but the police chased them. On being searched the police team recovered Rs 50,000 from the possession of one of the two,” said Arshi.
The SP said there were 70 sacks loaded in the truck and the total consignment weighed 632 kgs while addressing a press conference.
