Jamshedpur: District police today claimed to have busted an inter-state racket of vehicle lifters by arresting two of its members with five stolen motorcycles.
Superintendent of police (city) Kartik S said the culprits were nabbed near Dhatkidih yesterday evening. The accused duo, Ajzal Guru and Shahid Ansari, along with their aides Kadir and Kabir, were planning to sell off the five stolen bikes to agents. Two agents, David and Sheikh Hasibul fled and also helped Kadir and Kabir to evade arrest.
“Those arrested are vehicle lifters. They used to sell stolen vehicles to agents in different states including Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal and Bihar.
We are trying to get information about other members of the racket by interrogating those arrested,” said the SP.
The SP said the racketeers used to sell each bike for Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000.
