Stolen jewellery recovered, SUV recovered
Jamshedpur :The police have busted a gang of thieves by arresting 10 persons and recovering stolen jewellery from a place in Bagbera.
Apart from the stolen jewelleries, the police have recovered lock-cutting equipment and an SUV that the thieves would use in committing the crime.
Those arrested have been identified as Shravan Kumar, Sonu Prasad, Charu Pingua, Sambharu Sahu, Vikash Sharma, Sujit Sharma, Kishan Singh, Rajesh Singh, Shiv Prasad Sahu and
Senior superintendent of police, Amol V Homkar said that the gang of thieves were involved in several incidents of theft since the past six months, and had committed thefts at a number of shops in Bagbera, Jugsalai and Golmuri localities of the city.
He claimed that the gang was also active in Gamharia and Seraikela.
Led by the Jugsalai officer-in-charge, Arun Kumar Mishra, a police task-force got a tip off raided a house at Babgera and nabbed one of the suspects, Charu Pingua.
Later by interrogating Pingua the task-force had nabbed one after another member of the gang from Bagbera police station areas itself.
Homkar said the gang used to execute thefts by travelling in an SUV and while committing the crime they get the SUV parked in front of the victim’s house and the next moment they would decamp jewelleries and other valuables by carrying them in the same vehicle.
The senior police officer said that they have detected as many as five cases of theft by interrogating the accused.
The police recovered three kilograms of silver by raiding the jewellery repairing shops of Shiv Prasad Sahu and Fakirchand Prasad in Bagbera.
