, Jan 25: Graduations are being held at high schools all across Steel city this week. Some schools graduate hundreds of students; others, just a few dozen.

The graduation ceremony night at Hill Top School was thrilling as it showcased the students’ hard work throughout the year and their ability to overcome difficult circumstances and get their education back on track. The theme for the event was ‘Soaring in the Skies of Excellence’.

The ceremony kicked off at the school premises with a welcome speech and the event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ruchi Narendran wife of Tata Steel MD TV Narendran.

The highlights of 2013-14 were ppt presentation followed by procession of graduating students.

Later a poetic performance by the Tenthers enumerating their dreams and the road that lies ahead was soothing to the ears. Class 10 students also presented a song ‘We are one’.

Principal of the school and Chief Guest presented awards to the high achievers of ICSE2013 exams and some of the star winners included Utkarsh Tyagi -97.6%, Sumeet Khandelwal -97.4%, Awinash Kumar Singh -96%, Ditzsa Karmakar -94.8%, Piyali Hazra- 94.8%, Akshay -94.6% and Priya Ghosh- 94.6%.

Later Principal of the school addressed the gathering followed by speech by Shambhavi Jha, student of class 10.

Special awards for high achievers of class 10 were also given away were Abhijit Kumar was adjudged the winner of Principal award, Rajarshi Mukherjee was the runners up while Shambhavi Jha walked away with second runners up trophy.

Several other awards were also lined up for the evening including the Young Achiever’s Award which went to Rajarshi Mukherjee & P Kamala Priya.

Outstanding sportsperson award was bagged by Ankita while P. Kamala Priya won the Creative Achievement Award.

Chief Guest Ruchi Narendran addressed the gathering and motivated the students followed by speech of class 9 student Sourodeep Ghosh.

Students of class 9 also presented a song ‘Manjha’. The event concluded with the school song sung by the 28th ICSE Batch 2013 of the School.
