Jamshedpur, Sept 11: The Karma Puja celebration organized by the Oraon Samaj Samiti in Sitaramdera was marked by religious fervor and gaiety. The immersion took place today at Swarnrekha River bank at Mango today. The rituals and worship were performed under the supervision of the community’s elite members.
The colourful cultural events that continued through the night from Monday last, were marked with traditional folk songs and Jhumar geet and dances to the exciting beats of Mandar, Dhol and Jhal. The huge crowd was gripped by the mood of the festivities.
Another centre of attraction was special guest Pappu Sardar, the famous fan of starlet Madhuri Dixit. He performed the Karm worship and danced and played the traditional percussion instruments. The Oraon Samaj Samiti officials honoured Pappu Sardar with a set of traditional dress. The unmarried girls of the Samaj performed worship of Pappu Sardar as their elder brother and he in turn presented gifts to his sisters. Pappu also gifted sarees to the elderly women of the Oraon community.
Among those present on the occasion were Samiti president Khema Oraon, secretary Sukhram Lakra, Rakesh Oraon, Santosh Lakra, Badal Minj, Bablu Khalko and others.
A sports meet will be organized on Wednesday, September 11. While giving the information, Samiti secretary Sukhram Lakra said that the chief guest on the occasion would be the Chief Minister’s legislative representative Pawan Agrawal and the guests of honour would include BJYM leader Gunjan Yadav and community worker Raj Lakra.
