Jamshedpur, Sept. 24: To mark International Day of Peace, Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES), Bistupur, organised online painting competition.

The theme for the event was ‘peace’. The virtual celebration saw students from nursery to class IX presented poems or pieces on peace.  The best presentations were recognized and posted online. A video depicting the art work, excerpts from presentations on peace and musical renditions was released for the occasion.

The theme for this year’s International Day of Peace is ‘Shaping Peace Together’.

In 1981, the United Nations declared 21st September as International Peace Day. It was celebrated for the first time in 1982- the motto being to strengthen peace, both within and without. All over the world people celebrate this day to promote peace and harmony across the world.

‘It is not the world that needs peace; it is the people that need peace. ‘An eye for an eye, only ends up making one blind’ – Gandhiji said.
