Jamshedpur : Traffic movement on the Subernarekha Link Road near Old Court remained hit for more than three hours as various outfits and a political party staged demonstration in front of the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner’s office in Sakchiin favour of their demands.
Members of Bagbera Ghar Bachao Morcha comprised mostly women, raised slogans against the railway administration as well as the local administration opposing a railway administration’s move to demolish their houses in Bagbera.
The protestors were led by Ashok Yadav, convenor of the Bagbera Ghar Bachao Morcha, an action committee set up for protesting the railway administration’s action.
The agitated residents of Bagbera marched to the DC office after Tatanagar railway administration issued notice to vacate the land on which the residents have constructed residential building.
Later a delegation of the protestors met the deputy commissioner, Amit Kumar and talked to him.
While the Bagbera protesters were still at the DC office, a group of AJSU Party members came there and demonstrated in protest against the alleged high-handedness of private English medium school management who are charging excessive tuition fee from the students. The last group that reached the DC office of the members of a tribal outfit which was protesting against any tampering with the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act.
“We have submitted the memorandum at district collectorate and requested the President to take this issue which is against poor tribals. The current government has violated norms of CNT Act and SPT Act and serving interest of capitalists,” said an official.
Meanwhile, traffic went haywire as the activists reached the Subernarekha Link Road for nearly three hour. The road linking Sakchi, Northern Town and Circuit House Area with Mango witnesses nearly a lakh vehicles passing through it daily.
