Police foiled escape plans of the rebels just in time, says senior cop
Jamshedpur: Naxalites had planned bombing on Chaibasa Civil Court campus with the motive to free their jailed accomplices. This was an alternative plan in addition to the jailbreak plan which was foiled by the West Singhbhum district police just in time. This was informed by the SP of West Singhbhum Kranti Kumar Gardeshi on Tuesday.
“The Naxalites had made a plan to explode a bomb on the court campus at the time when their jailed companions would be brought for production. Bombing would have created chaos and given the Naxalites a chance to attempt escape.. But we foiled their plan before it could be carried out,” said the SP.
The SP said the police had got a tip-off about the Naxalite escape plan. “CPI (Maoist) leader Motilal Soren alias Sandeep Da had hatched the plan with his associates Jai Maseeh Charad, Rameshwar Kunkal, Markandeya Singh Kuntia, Dev Kumar Biruli, Nala Bhikshapati and Rajesh Tudu alias Rajesh Santhali. Few jail security personnel were also involved in the conspiracy. They were offered hefty sums as bribe,” he said.
According to police, the Naxalites had planned to either escape by breaking or scaling the jail walls or carry out bombing or open firing on the court campus. The plan was to attempt escape either during Durga Puja celebrations or during the winter when it is foggy at night, sources said.
