Jamshedpur, Sept 10: Celebrating its first anniversary, Naval Tata Hockey Academy (NTHA) Odisha is organising a webinar on ‘The Future to Peak Performance: How High Performance Centres, Performance Analysis and Sports Science is shaping up Indian Sports for a better tomorrow”.

NTHA Odisha (Partnership in excellence between Department of Sports & Youth Services, Govt. of Odisha and Tata Steel, Tata Trusts) is the Hockey High Performance Centre based in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Continuing the Tata Group’s sports culture and the thrust that the Government of Odisha is providing for sports through its various initiatives, the webinar will be organized on September 11, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

The talk will have the esteem panelist including Olympian Floris Bovelander, Technical Director- Hockey Ace Foundation  & NTHA Odisha, Olympian Kazem Panjavi, Chief Coach- Odisha Weightlifting HPC, James Hillier, Head Coach- Reliance Foundation Odisha Athletics HPC, Mr. Rushdee Warley, CEO IIS & Program Director Odisha JSW Swimming HPC, Heath Matthews, Head Sports Science & Medicine (Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Institute), Dr Digpal Singh Ranawat, Director Abhinav Futuristics and Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance Centres. The webinar will be co-moderated by Rajiv Seth, Ex First Class Cricketer (Bengal & Odisha) & Project Director of NTHA Odisha and renowned freelance journalist Diksha Tiwari.

The webinar will essentially focus on the sports journey of Odisha so far and How High Performance Centres, Performance Analysis and Sports Science is shaping up Indian Sports for a better tomorrow. The HPC journey in India is relatively in early days of its existence, hence deliberation on best practices world over and how India can swing it around to its advantage given the thrust that is being seen in sports from Central & State Government. There will be discussions on some of the plans that each of these already set up HPCs in Bhubaneswar are working towards and possibly the challenges and Way forward. Odisha has abundance of talent in all these identified sports ie. Hockey, Football, Athletics, Weightlifting, Swimming & Shooting.

It is expected to be an interesting conversation especially for sports enthusiasts that will take place on ZOOM (Webinar ID: 82322733113  Password: 934855) and will also be streamed through NTHA Odisha Facebook Live, Twitter and YouTube live. Sports Department of Odisha will also cover it through their social media platforms to make it a truly enriching experience for the audience. There will also be an opportunity for a quick Q&A for viewers.

By already setting up number of High Performance Centres (HPC) and working with some very big names of respective sports, Odisha has an edge over other states. The vision of Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha  Naveen Patnaik “Youth for Sports: Youth for Future” is apt in creating such eco system of sports in the state and Tata Steel through NTHA Odisha stands committed.

NTHA Odisha has just completed its first anniversary (on 13th August 2020) and is working towards the promotion of hockey in the State and at the national level with the best in class coaching and resident programmes.
