Jamshedpur, Aug 11: Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) organised the ‘CISCE Regional Yoga Championship – 2019 in the school auditorium on Saturday.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ashish Kumar, Head of Sports Department, Tata Steel. Students from two zones Ranchi and Jamshedpur participated in the event. The programme began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Paramita Roy Chaudhury, the Principal of the school, Varsha Gandhi, Secretary of the School Managing Committee and the other esteemed guests.
The championship was held at two levels- Junior Boys and Junior Girls (U-17), Senior Boys and Senior Girls (U-19).
The students performed three types of Yoga – Artistic Yoga, Athletic Yoga and Rhythmic Yoga. Athletic Yoga was a team event and Artistic Yoga and Rhythmic Yoga were individual events. Fifty Two (52) participants were present for the contest. The judges for the event were Subal Chatterjee, Pradip Kumar Dey, Sapan Kumar Shaw, Jitu Kumar, Dulal Patra, Sourav Kumar, Laxmi Kumari, Arvind Prasad and Ajay Verma.
Anushka Banerjee, a participant from Jamshedpur zone said, “It is a platform for all of us to meet others from different zones”.
Ritabrata Dey, a student of NHES said, “I am happy to be able to perform in such an esteemed competition”.
Shyla Somani from Ranchi zone said, “I am very excited to participate, the hospitality of the host school is very good”.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Rohan Dutta (NHES Student). The programme was witnessed by the members of school managing committee and other guests.
