Students’ creativity to the fore on day 1 of ‘Wheels 2019’ finale
Jamshedpur: The finals of ‘Wheels 2019’ began on Friday with students displaying their creative best. Series of events were held during the day starting with Need for Speed at Engineers Hall in the morning.
Eklavya event at Telco Club Main Hall saw differently abled children displayed their talent in painting, chess, clay modeling, dance, rangoli, yoga and guitar.
Step up Scrap at Telco Lawn saw students display scientific talent and put up one on one model made from the waste which was praised by all.
‘Youth Parliament’ at Management Training Centre the participants addressed the mass with thoughts and questions pertaining issues that the country is up against and put a motion forward. This Parliament session was simulation of the actual parliament with bill presentation, committee formation, voting etc. events followed in orderly manner.
The next in line was ‘Sherlocked’ held at Engineer’s Hall. The participants used their skills to detect and logically analyze what they posses to be the next Sherlock.
‘Swara- the solo singing competition’ at the Telco Club Main Hall displayed the singing talent of the participants.
Gaming events including Counter Strike, NFS, Wheel Premier League (Cricket) and Novelty Soccer League were also held on January 11.
Antaragni, Pocket Full Of Words, Xquizit, Word Wizard, Qrious and Bridge The Gap were also organised on day one of the finale.
Known for their explosive live acts and pumping music, the ‘Nalayak Band’ belted out their popular numbers to great ovation from the mesmerized audience at Telco Club.
Applauded for the crazy acts and stupefying live performances, Nalayal’s music gently teased the bizarreness of the “Modern Society”.
Nalayak – the Band concluded Day 1 with an electrifying performance which had the audience spellbound.
The vocalist Sahil, the lead guitarist Akshat, the drummer Garry and the Bassist Aashish lifted the spirit and created a wonderful atmosphere where everyone enjoyed their day. Nalayak gave a performance on their self composed songs and did some covers too.
The band has performed at all major student festivals in the country including those at the IITs. Defined by its enchanting stage persona, Nalayak – The Band is an emerging, first – of – its kind, independent rock band from Chandigarh
Day 2 of Wheels finals will witness performance of Advaita, an Indian fusion band based in New Delhi. January 12 will also have classical dance performance by Nrityangan Institute of Performing Arts.
On 13th January Bollywood Mega-Nite will be held at Sumant Moolgaokar Stadium where ‘Tera Ghata’ singer Gajendra Verma along with singer Jonita Gandhi will perform.
The prize distribution ceremony will take place on 13th of January 2019. First rolled out in 1987, this year the theme for 32nd edition of Wheels is “ANKURAN-Nurturing Innovations”.
Organised by the Graduate Engineer Trainee (G.E.T) Club, ‘Wheels 2019’ finals will conclude on 13th January.
It may be noted that the prelims of the fest were held from 20th to 22nd December, 2018 and the selected participants are competing for prizes during the finals of the biggest techno-cultural fest. Altogether 6000 students displayed their talent during the three-day prelims.
