Jamshedpur : A hardcore naxal nabbed by the police have revealed startling information of the encounter.
According to him as many as six naxals were killed and over a dozen others had sustained bullet injury in the hours-long fierce encounter between the para-military forces and Maoists at Tebo valley under Bandhgaon police station area of West Singhbhum district on September 3. Rahul is a close associate of rebel leader Prasadji who is reported to have told Rahul about the casualties on the rebels’ side in that encounter.
The West Singhbhum superintendent of police, Pankaj Kamboj quoted Rahul as saying that in the Shankara jungle encounter six naxals were killed by the para-military forces and over a dozen naxals had sustained bullet injuries.
“The rebels’ bodies and also those injured had been carried away by the fellow rebels past Tebo valley by the evening of the day on which the encounter took place. The injured rebels were later sent for undergoing treatment at various private nursing-homes in Ranchi and also Lohardaga and Gumla.
Kamboj said that though Rahul was not among those who had attended the meeting at Tebo valley, Prasadji had attended the meeting and had later told everything to Rahul about their meeting and the subsequent encounter at Shankara jungle.
The West Singhbhum SP said that the information divulged by the arrested rebels has to be investigated and verified. He pointed out though a combing operation had been carried out soon after the encounter, but the police had not been able to find out whether any rebel was killed.
A police official said he cannot reveal on the status of the operation due to security reasons but they have nabbed a Maoist during the operation and we interrogating them to dig out further links. He said that the forces are targeting the different areas under the Posaita forest.
Police were conducting raids at various places on the basis of information received from the nabbed ultra, a resident of Rongo village of the district.
The forces have started frisking commuters in the bordering areas. At some places common people are also being
interrogated by police and paramilitary force on suspicion. Forces have been deployed in strategic locations.
