Jamshedpur, June 27: Kerala Public School (KPS), Kadma celebrated ‘Mother’s Day’ for the mothers of Pre-Primary segment of the school on 27th June.
It is an initiative taken up by the school to promote healthy eating habits among children and to avoid junk food. A session on ‘Yummy Tiffin’s Made Healthy’ was conducted by the Vice-Principal of the school, Mrs. Harmit Pal. The highlight of the session was -benefits of a balanced diet, nutrition value of food, ill effects of junk food and healthy recipes for yummy tiffin.
The Principal of the School Sharmila Mukherjee welcomed the gathering. The Director of the school Sharat Chandran graced the occasion with his august presence. A mesmerizing powerful and alluring dance performance were put up by students of Primary Segment. The Primary coordinator, Mrs Alamelu addressed the mothers of toddlers and gave them tips to groom their child to become smart and good citizens of the country.
Later, a ‘Healthy-Tiffin’ competition was conducted wherein the mothers had to create their own healthy tiffin, showcasing their talent of cookery which was judged by Dr. Veena of Tata Main Hospital and Katty Gabba a Rotarian and Past President of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur.
Around 80 mothers participated in the competition. Healthy snacks prepared by mom chefs included items like- Paratha and vegetable, South Indian dishes, Sandwiches, Fruit salads, Sprouts and many more. The prize winners of the competition were given the title of ‘Star Mother’ and a batch was awarded to each one .The ‘Star Mothers’ of the competition were- Tumpa (Nur – C), Sabita Kumari (Nur – C), Swati (Nur – B) and Veena Devi (Nur – C)
The parents were awestruck by seeing the creative talents of the mothers and were highly benefitted by taking back home some healthy tips to make yummy Tiffin’s.
Shalini Sethi, the activity coordinator of the school extended vote of thanks and thanked each one who contributed for the overwhelming success of the programme.
