Jamshedpur, Nov 10: A middle-aged woman, identified as Rita Karmakar, reportedly ended her life by hanging self to death in her house at Ganesh Tola, Kumrum Basti under Mango police station area on Sunday.
Sources said the woman was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in the morning. She was taken to MGM Hospital where doctors pronounced her brought dead.
Shankar Karmakar, husband of the deceased, said his wife had sent her two daughters to play outside before taking the extreme step. The third and youngest child of the couple was asleep when the suicide took place, Karmakar told cops.
Karmakar said his wife was mentally disturbed. He admitted that quarrels often took place in the household. Police officials, however, said they were awaiting the post-mortem examination report to arrive at a conclusion.
