Jamshedpur: The gun-shot victim Hyder Ali’s friend who had allegedly fired at him was arrested from his house in Jugsalai this morning. After being arrested, the accused Rinku Mallik alias Noor Mallik (25) had denied to possess any fire-arms as such, but after a thorough search in his house at Lalbari on Mahtopara Road in Jugsalai, the police detected the pistol.

It was country-made pistol which police recovered from the house of Mallik.  On Sunday, the police had recovered an empty cartridge from near Lalbari where Hyder had sustained gun-shot injury.

The victim, Hyder who is also a resident of Lalbari on Mahtopara Road in Jugsalai is undergoing treatment for his gun-shot injuries at the Tata Main Hospital.

Deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Alok Ranjan said that the victim was not willing to spell out the name of his friend who had mistakenly shot at him.

“After thorough investigation, Hyder revealed the name of Mallik to have shot at him.  We got to know about the act of possessing an illegal gun by Mallik and shooting mistakenly at his friend Hyader late in the night.  A police team had first nabbed the accused from a place in Jugsalai and subsequently recovered the fire-arms from his house after a search,” Ranjan said while talking to the newsmen.

The DSP (law and order) said that they have grilled Mallik, a dealer in scraped plastic materials, but he claimed that he had found the country-made pistol lying near a pond in Jugsalai a few days ago. Mallik will be taken into police remand to find out the real source of the country-made pistol.
