Jamshedpur: Taking serious view of cruelty allegedly meted out to a 10 year old boy in the hands of bouncers at P&M Mall, Bistupur, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar has ordered a probe into the incident.
The DC has directed the officer in-charge of Bistupur PS to take prompt action against the culprits on the basis of CCTV footage obtained from the mall. His action followed public outrage after a video of the minor being beaten for selling balloons in front of the mall went viral on social media. A delegation of BJP leaders met the DC today and sought legal action against the mall management.
District BJP spokesperson Ankit Anand said the minor was assaulted, threatened and ill-treated by the mall staff, which is violation of Juvenile Justice Act. He said the boy was merely selling balloons to eke out a living as he is very poor. But unfortunately, the mall bouncers caught the child and beat him up for no fault of his, he said.
BJP ST Morcha leader Vimal Baitha demanded treatment and education facility for the minor.
