Jamshedpur, Oct. 1: Mega Blood Donation Camp organized by the East Singhbhum Chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was a resounding success with more than 602 units of blood collected during the day.
The camp was conducted to commemorate the World Blood Donation Day.
The camp saw enthusiastic response from blood donors from since the start of the camp. Donors streamed in continuously to donate blood and the efforts put in by the members, volunteers of IRCS, doctors and staff from the Jamshedpur Blood Bank paid rich dividends as record number of blood donors showed up to donate blood. All the necessary precautionary guidelines such as social distancing, sanitization were adhered to while conducting the camp.
Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony, Ashok Bhalotia, lauded the hard work being put in by IRCS in collection of blood which is helping the Jamshedpur Blood Bank to meet the requirements of blood in Jamshedpur.
He also stressed that the youth of Jamshedpur who always come forward to help in times of need, should donate blood at regular intervals. Further, he added that the corporate houses and social organizations should continue to extend their helping hand to IRCS so that it can carry on this praiseworthy work persistently.
Bijay Kumar Singh, Hony Secretary, IRCS, thanked the local administration, industrial houses, social organizations, members of IRCS and the Jamshedpur Blood Bank in helping IRCS to organize a camp of this magnitude and also extending resources this time also.
Smita Nagesia, Dy Collector and Protocol Officer, Plasma Donation, East Singhbhum, Arun Bakrewal, Patron, IRCS, Atul Kumar from Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, Balmukund Goyal, Vice-President, IRCS, Kamal Kishore Agarwal, eminent social worker, Krishna Bhalotia, Patron, IRCS, Ashok Modi, Patron, IRCS, and others were present on the occasion.
As is done regularly, all the blood donors were felicitated by IRCS with a T Shirt, a certificate, sanitizers, masks and sweets.
