Jamshedpur: Chakulia in East Singhbhum, will be the venue of a mass wedding on February 9. The event, is the result of efforts by former BJP state president Dineshanand Goswami, will see the marriage of 20 girls from economically poor families.
The preparation for this social event is on in full swing. A huge pandal will be erected in the steel factory premises for which the spot was worshipped as per rituals. Goswami informed, “The first 20 applications from villages in the Chakulia Block have been selected. The 20 pairs’ marriage will be solemnized in strict accordance with the betrothal rituals.”
After the wedding ceremony, each couple’s marriage will be registered by a team of officials from the Marriage Registration Department the same day.
During the mass marriage ceremony, the bridegrooms would be made to take an oath before the committee that they would totally abstain from alcohol and would never torture their brides.
With a view on environment use of plastic in any form is banned at the marriage site.
