Jamshedpur : A marijuana seller was beaten up by a group of shopkeepers for allegedly selling intoxicating materials at the Tin Shed adjoining Sakchi market on Sunday morning. The victim identified as Suraj Kumar Singh. The police latter rushed the injured to MGM Medical College and Hospital for treatment. A resident of Baridih Bustee, Suraj (28), has sustained serious head injuries as the assaulter attacked him with sticks.
The police have, however, recovered a consignment of marijuana weighing 2 Kg worth over Rs 40,000 which Suraj had kept in his scooter and was about to store in his shop at the Tin-shed market.
Police confirmed that the assault on Suraj Kumar Singh was a result of selling marijuana at Tin Shed Market.
” As per our investigation he was beaten up for selling the intoxicating product.We have already taken the statement of the injured and the matter will be investigated,”said an official.
Officer-in-charge, Gopal Singh of Sakchi police station confirmed that a marijuana seller has been arrested after a consignment of the stuff was recovered from his possession. He said some local shop-keepers have assaulted the marijuana seller and the police are investigating into the case.
