Jamshedpur/Gamharia: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police here launched an intensive search operation for the Maoist rebels after reported sightings of the outlaws.

Sources said around two dozen Maoists were seen crossing Swarnarekha river from Gauri Ghat to Kapali via Musrikudar Ghat in Kandra police station area towards Rajvan village on Wednesday evening.

The villagers informed police about the Maoists. A police team led by Chandil SDPO Dhirendra Banka and Seraikela SDPO Avinash Kumar carried out a search operation in the area.

Few local residents had seen two dozen men carrying arms crossing the river. It is being said that the Maoists have entered the Dalma region, sources said.
According to Avinash Kumar, “We have sealed the forest from all sides before starting the search operation.”

Notorious Maoist squad led by Maharaj Pramanik has been active in Dalma region for a long time, sources said.
