Jamshedpur: A big relief is waiting for the residents of Mango facing acute shortage of drinking water.
For The chief minister has taken up the cudgel to expedite the pending project. He said that the government has released fund to the tune of Rs 38.36 Crores for supply of water through pipe lines in households falling under Mango Notified Area Committee. The CM said the fund would be utilized to lay pipes in households for supply of water.
It may be mentioned here that the State government has issued directives to complete Mango Water Supply Project on time under Urban Water Supply Extension Project. About two lakhs residents of Mango would be benefited from this ambitious project. To counter the problem of shortage of drinking water the CM has issued orders to urban development department to complete the project within stipulated time-frame.
It may be mentioned here that the Mango Water Supply Project is hanging fire since the recent past. Work on laying pipelines in households is going on a haphazard manner while the residents complained that the local civic body was collecting money from the households for laying pipelines. Now after the chief minister’s assurance that the government would bear the costs for laying pipelines grievances of the local residents would be sorted out to a great extent.
The inordinate delay in completion of the water supply project had triggered controversy in the recent past. Several organizations and people’s representatives including legislator Saryu Roy had taken up the issue with the government for speedy completion of the project for water-starved residents of Mango.
