Accused Badal Hansda arrested from Kandra

Jamshedpur, Feb 18: Bistupur police arrested Badal Hansda, a resident of Adityapur under RIT police station area, in connection with the alleged assault on contract worker Laxmi Soren inside Tata Steel plant. The accused was arrested from the house of his maternal uncle, Jamon Hansda, in Kandra.
Sources said the accused reportedly confessed having assaulted Laxmi on duty near D Blast Furnace inside the company on the morning of 15th February. The accused, father of three, claimed he had an affair with Laxmi which lasted three years. Just a year ago, Laxmi came to know about Badal’s marital status and started avoiding him thereafter. After Valentine’s Day, Badal was frustrated over Laxmi’s cold response. On the day of incident, he attacked Laxmi with a rod in her legs. He also assaulted her twice on head. Laxmi fell unconscious at the scene, sources said.
Laxmi was found in critical condition by her colleagues. She was taken to critical care unit (CCU) of Tata Main Hospital where she was operated for blood clots in her head. She is still under treatment. Cops had seen Badal coming to the place of occurrence in CCTV footage.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren had asked city police to take prompt action in the case through a Tweet. SP City Subhash Chandra Jaat and Bistupur PS OC Rajesh Prakash Sinha were investigating the case.
