Victim admitted to hospital, social organisations demand justice
Jamshedpur, Aug 13: The police have arrested five accused including her lover involved in the gangrape of a 16 year old girl during her visit to Theme Park in Telco, Jamshedpur with her lover on Wednesday.
The five accused who have been arrested, not only gangraped the girl, but also had made an obscene video of the rape and had later demanded the victim’s parents Rs 10 lakh as ransom for not making the video viral.
Those who have been arrested are Chandan Lohra alias Tompe, 21, Ganesh Bari alias Damru, 26, Sunil Bari alias Govinda, 23, Jasua Sawaiya alias Motu, 27 and Akash Dhal alias Kachhim, 20.
On Thursday, as the news spread several organisations raised their voices for justice and protested at Sakchi.
According to information, the victim who is a resident of Zone No 2A of Birsanagar was on her way to Gadra in adjoining Govindpur police station area at her maternal grand-parents’ house on Tuesday evening. But on the way her boy-friend Chandan Kumar met her and took her to the Theme Park at Ghorabandha in Telco.
As the two were sitting at the Theme Park, four youths came to the spot and started teasing the girl. When Chandan protested and raised his voice against the act, the youths started assaulting him. Chandan, a resident of Birsanagar fled the spot and returned home and on the other hand the four youths took the girl to a closed school nearby and raped her throughout the night and also in the morning.
During the gangrape, the accused made a video and later in the afternoon made the girl to contact her father for seeking Rs 10 lakh to a place near the Theme Park informing that they would make the video clipping viral if the money is not paid.
Chandan Lohra said that he had taken the minor girl to cremation ground behind the Theme Park in Govindpur. Meanwhile, other four accused arrived there and assaulted him and forced him to leave the place keeping the girl with them.
On the other hand, when the victim did not reach her house, the girl’s parents lodged a missing person report with the Birsanagar police station on Wednesday morning, leading the police to come into action. But after getting a call from the victim herself in the afternoon, the anxious parents informed the police about the call and went over to the place which was near a railway track at the Khairbani level crossing in adjoining Govindpur police station area.
As the police team came into action one of the accused was nabbed in the evening. On being interrogated the police arrested another accused in the night, and finally they arrested two more accused from Govindpur on Thursday morning.
Those who were a part of the police team included Shivendra, Dy SP, Traffic, R K Verma, inspector, Telco circle, Rajesh Kumar Jha, officer incharge, Birsanagar, Ranjit Kumar Singh, OC, Govindpur, Pankaj Kumar Singh, ASI, Birsanagar and others.
The police rushed the victim to the Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal for medical examination. Sensing the girl’s condition, she was admitted to the hospital.
