Jamshedpur : The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM), is pinning hopes on campaign trail of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and the founder leader Babulal Marandi to woo voters to wrest Jamshedpur election scheduled on April 17.
JVM today announced that Marandi will camp in the city, during the campaigning exercise, and move door to door to appeal the voters to give a chance to his candidate.
“Babulal ji is a charismatic leader of our State. His campaign starting from June 17 will instill confidence among party workers and voters. We have full faith on his leadership. People trust him for his honest and dedication. He will attract voters like always,” said Abhay Singh, JVM’s Central committee secretary.
He said that corruption and Maoist terror have peaked in the State. Development work has come to a standstill. People of the state will not forgive if efforts are not made sincerely for their welfare. Marandi is one such politician that has dared to take action against it.
“Repeated State governments in the State have deviated from the development vision. Jharkhand has gone far ahead of Bihar as far as corruption is concerned and the situation is worsening,” said the secretary. Marandi, is unhappy with the functioning of the State and he does not hesitate to nail politicians. He is honest and daring politician he added.
“Babulal ji is a magnetic leader of our State and his visit has instilled confidence among party workers and voters too. He is going to spread vision of party among the people and will mobilise party cadre. The activists are all looking forward to listen to their leaders,” said Abhay Singh, JVM senior leader.
JVM has fought three parliament elections in the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency so far. The first being the by-elections in the year 2007 that were held following the assassination of JMM MP Sunil Mahato and, the second being the general elections to the Parliament in 2009. In 2007 party candidate Bikas Mukherjee forfeited his deposit while in the general elections party nominee Arvind Singh alias Malkhan Singh bagged 79089 votes.
In last polls in 2011 the former supercop Ajay Kumar won the prestigious Jamshedpur Lok Sabha by-election with a record margin defeating his nearest rival, Dineshanand Goswami of BJP, by 1,55,727. The totally belonged to the former IPS officer who maintained his lead throughout the 23 rounds of the counting of votes, JVM candidate Dr Kumar bagged 2,76,582 votes while BJP candidate bagged 1,20,855 votes.
Sudhir Mahato of JMM stood third in the ranking order securing 1,15,799 votes while AJSU candidate Astik Mahato came fourth with 99058 votes “Ajay jee carries leadership qualities and is a man of vision we would like tribals to rise above the party line and vote for him. We would seek help of the tribals intellectual community in this connection to ensure his victory,” said a leader.
