Jamshedpur, Aug 8: Jamshedpur unit CPI (ML) founder member and senior leftist leader Bhagwan Das passed away today after prolonged illness. He was 79 years old. A resident of Chhota Govindpur, Bhagwan Das was a retired Tata Motors employee. The deceased leader’s son Arun Kumar said that his last rites would be performed at the Swarnrekha Crematorium.

Former organization secretary of All Bihar Students’ Union SNS Jigyasu described Bhagwan Das as a a senior leader of the party in undivided Bihar. He said that Bhagwan Das had many achievements to his name and worked constantly for the uplift of Dalits, Adivasis and for the members of the backward and minority communities.

Senior leftist leaders CSP Yadav, Ram Palakh Chowdhary, CPI (ML) Polit Bureau member Dhirendra Jha, Akhil Bharatiya Pragatisheel Mahila Association national general secretary Meena Tiwary, Jan Sanskriti Manch chief Anil Anshuman, APV senior leader Sashi Yadav, Vinod Lahiri, Samar Bhattacharya and others have condoled Bhagwan Das’ death.
