Jamshedpur, Jan 20: The Andhra Mahila Samithi, Jamshedpur organized a programme “Sankranti Vedukalu’ (Sankranti celebrations) at Andhra Association, Kadma.
The main focus of the event was the Kuchipudi (a traditional classical dance form of Andhra Pradesh) dance recital by 15 students of Sri Vaishnavi Kala Kshetra, Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh.
The dance programme was followed by Telugu film Antakshari programme again participated by the same team.
Mr O B Krisha, retired Chief of Safety, Tata Steel, inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.
While inviting the distinguished guests on the occasion, Mrs Sudha Mohan, President of Andhra Pradesh briefed the audience about the importance of culture in our present day lives.
She also explained the nuances of Kuchipudi dance which was the main event in all the king’s courts during the bygone era.
Students from Sri Vaishnavi Kala Kshetra, who performed the dance recital and the Antakshari enthralled audience, who witnessed the programmes in large numbers.
