Jamshedpur: Hundreds of members of various city-based Kshatriya organizations here on Thursday took out a Swabhiman Rally to protest the release of film Padmaavat. A procession of Rajput community members started off at S Type Durga Puja ground in Adityapur and arrived at Aam Bagan ground in Sakchi. The agitators raised slogans against the film throughout the streets. They reached Jamshedpur Collectorate where a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Raghubar Das was handed to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar.
Rana Singh, one of the agitators, said, “The film should be immediately banned throughout the state and should never be allowed to be released anywhere. It is an insult to the Rajputs and the great sacrifices made by Maa Padmavati and others. Historical facts have been distorted to produce such a film. It is a conspiracy to defame us.”
Among those present during the agitation incuded Anup Singhdeo, Rana Singh, Vinay Singh, Ranvijay Singh, Rajesh Singh Bam, Mrityunjaya Singh, Amit Singh, Hari Singh, Bablu Singh and Vikas Singh.
