Jamshedpur, July 11 : The devotees are gearing up to participate in the holy walk to DeogharBaidhyanathDham to pay obeisance to Lord Shiv. The various KanwariaSanghs across Jamshedpur are also preparing for the occasion.

Devotees are all ready to make that trip to Deoghar. Some of the devotees have planned to visit Basukinath, Mahadevshal (near Manoharpur in West Singhbhum) and Tarakeskwar (in Bengal) instead of Deoghar.

Fifty-seven-year old Rajnikant Sinha said: “Devotees collect holy water from the Ganga therefore we halt at Sultangunj from where we take the local train. When we collect water from the holy river we are supposed to take a sankalp (pledge). The 110km walk or journey by tempo or bus to Deoghar starts from Sultangunj after performing these rituals. Some of the devotees fast while taking that journey but I won’t fast this time.”

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the comfort of the devotees. The journey for the devotees is incomplete till they offer the holy water to Lord Shiv.

The Shravan festival looks incomplete without those saffron attire. And this time apart from the saffron kurtas, there are shorts and shirts from which the devotees can chose.

Some of the devotees have planned to visit Basukinath, Mahadevshal (near Manoharpur in West Singhbhum) and Tarakeskwar (in Bengal) instead of Deoghar.
