Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) leaders dropped a political bombshell just before the Lok Sabha elections here on Monday by accusing Bharatiya Janata Party and All Jharkhand Students Union of involvement in a pre-poll pact at the Jamshedpur seat.
Former legislator and senior JVM leader Sanatan Manjhi alleged that the two parties had entered into an unethical alliance ahead of the polls either in lieu of political gains or direct monetary benefits. He said the JVM was going to take up the matter with the Election Commission of India and lodge a formal complaint against the two former allies.
“AJSU has not fielded any candidate from Jamshedpur Parliamentary constituency as yet. It has also not made any announcement to this effect so far. All this smacks of some ulterior motive with which the party seems to be planning its poll preparation. It appears that both parties have entered into some kind of pact before the elections aimed at obtaining political gains,” said Manjhi.
The JVM leader was accompanied by Naresh Murmu, Khagen Mahato, Lalan Chouhan, Shashi Bhushan and other party leaders, while making the allegations against the BJP and AJSU leaders at the party office in Kasidih on Monday.
“The BJP and AJSU leaders should not take the voters for granted. Voters can no more be fooled or misled. They are much more aware and conscious today. They do not trust political impostors anymore. No political party can fool them in the name of caste or creed. Such people will get a rebuff by the people in the elections,” said Manjhi.
The JVM leaders said the AJSU president Sudesh Mahato should make it clear as to what sort of ‘deal’ had his party entered with the BJP for not fielding any candidate of its own from the Jamshedpur seat. “Sudesh Mahato has cut a sorry figure through his political decisions this election. He has lost the faith of the people. He has adopted an opportunistic image before the people,” said the former legislator.
Manjhi also accused former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and BJP candidate from Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato of neglecting the people of Baharagora Assembly constituency. They said the former JMM leader had never ever taken pains to find out what problems were being faced by the voters of Baharagora.
