Jamshedpur : Jusco, since its inception, has taken many initiatives in the area of water and power sector to help the environment and also to create sustainability. In a similar initiative Jusco’s Water Division has taken up a pilot project to reduce the use of drinking water for irrigation purpose and replace it with waste water coming out from house and drains. It is an excellent example of how one can reuse the waste water for irrigation purpose and save the precious drinking water that can be used for those who really wanted it. Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco today inaugurated the new system at Professional Flat “A” Block.
Working for the last almost six months JUSCO Water Division has set up drip irrigation system in the entire stretch of the Kadma-Sonari Link Road. In the earlier system, the trees/ plants along the road use to be irrigated with the raw water from River Pump House. But with the new system in place, the irrigation will now be done through the treated waste water from the house and drains along the road.
The salient features are Saving of raw water, Huge future potential regarding raw water saving approximately 20000 L per day and Raw water saved can be used for drinking purpose. Approximately 20-30 more families can be served with drinking water.
