Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar today undertook a tour of Jugsalai area along with officials and representatives of other stakeholders to take stock of developmental infrastructure possibilities and feasibilities.

The DC stated that discussions were held on measures to be adopted in the development of Jugsalai Nagar Parishad (Jugsalai Municipality) area and the construction of the railway over bridge.


Suraj Kumar stated that the participation of all stakeholders including railways, RCD, Tata Pigment, Tata Steel and Jugsalai Municipality in the development projects would be an essential component in the process. In his discussions with the rail ARM and AGM, discussions were held on completion of the road construction that would relieve traffic congestions.

On the issue of waterlogging at the under bridge on the Jugsalai-Station route Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TSUISL), formerly JUSCO ltd was directed to make out a work plan and execute the job.
Issues like installation of landscaping, drinking water facilities and sheds for passengers at the entry and exit points of Tatanagar Station were discussed.

The Executive Officer of Jugsalai Municipality was instructed to make a DPR of development of street vendors’ zone at the Naya Bazaar Haat, construction of Chhat Ghat at Shiv Ghat, establishment oh a TOP and removal of garbage from the river bank to another place of disposal.

Other issues discussed were beautification of the Idgah Maidan, provision for street vendors’ zone beside the grave yard and allotment of space for vegetable market. The Jugsalai Municipality Special Officer was directed to chalk out a DPR for the proposals.


The Deputy Commissioner took updates on relocating a part of Chuna Bhatta Basti for the purpose of construction of a railway foot over-bridge. He said that there has been a departmental recommendation regarding relocation and Tata Steel had already provided land for the purpose. Suraj Kumar stated that two lanes of Chuna Bhatti would be relocated and expected that the rehabilitation process would commence soon.


The Deputy Commissioner also inspected different development projects launched in the Jugsalai Municipality command area, the Municipality office and the Primary Health Centre.

The railway SRM and AGM, SDO Dhalbhum, RSD Executive Engineer, Executive Officer of Jugsalai Municipality and representatives of the various stakeholders accompanied the DC on his inspection tour and participated in the discussions.
