Jamshedpur: In a bid to prevent the epidemic outbreak of dengue in the city, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has decided to intensify preventive action against the deadly disease.
During a meeting convened on Thursday to discuss ways to prevent dengue outbreak, it was decided to spread greater health awareness among the city people and stem the breeding of mosquitoes in damp areas across the city by launching a special drive every Saturday.
The JNAC officials said notices would be served to the people in control of old quarters, shops stocking old tyres and scraps and households disposing waste through open drains. Those people not taking preventive measures against dengue would be fined and even penalized under relevant sections of Municipal Act, officials said.
Public representatives were also present at the meeting. They suggested that the frequency of fogging in various localities be increased to control mosquito breeding. They also suggested that drains should also be cleaned regularly and kept covered all the time.
