Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee has pulled up its socks to completely stop the practice of building construction without compliance to design norms in the city.

Taking the first step forward in this direction, the Special Officer of JNAC Sanjay Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of half a dozen under-construction buildings in Sonari East, Sonari West, Ranikudar, Bhalubasa, Golmuri and Tuiladungri. Kumar ordered the workers to stop the construction work at several sites after finding out that the buildings were being erected through deviation in their designs.

Kumar said stopping deviation from building design is much easier in the initial phase of construction. He said it is the responsibility of the architects and engineers to intimate the JNAC about any such deviation. He said he was himself inspecting the buildings to find out whether the architects, engineers and revenue officials have any role in their deviation from approved design.

The Special Officer said the building owners or builders should demolish the deviated portions of their property on their own or else the same would be forcibly done by the JNAC.
