Jamshedpur: Members of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Potka block committee, staged a dharna at Birsa Chowk in Hata on Monday to protest the proposed merger of government schools. They blamed the BJP government for the ‘dismal’ situation in the state.
Also present on the occasion, JMM general secretary Mohan Karmakar said the state government was hellbent on ruining the education system of Jharkhand as part of a conspiracy. The government should scrap the proposal for merger of government schools and should instead open more schools to improve the educational scenario in the state, he said.
The JMM leaders alleged that the state government was acting under the influence of capitalist forces. They said the government had failed to improve the quality of education being imparted in the schools of Jharkhand.
District JMM President Ramdas Soren said the JMM stood in solidarity with para-teachers of the state. He said parateachers were agitating in support of justified demands. He said condemned police action against para-teachers in Ranchi on the occasion of state foundation day as an insult to Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He said parateachers would be regularized if the JMM comes to power in 2019.
Among others present on the occasion included Sunil Mahato, Heeramani Murmu, Mahavir Murmu, Baban Rai, Ganesh Sardar, Kisan Gupta, Ujjwal Mandal and Khaira Munda.
