Jamshedpur : Sensing the arrival of Lok Sabha elections in the State, leaders of several parties have increased their activities seeking to retain or regain power from Jharkhand. Apart from efforts to woo the voters prior of elections, leaders have started mobilising their ‘sources’ to win the party tickets according to their choices.
Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat is one such seat that has started witnessing a race among the probables to grab the party ticket. Sources said that the strategies are being cooked inside a section of district JMM to oust rivals this time.
Sources informed that district JMM president and firebrand youth leader Ramesh Hansda is one of the probables who are eying to bag the party’s ticket. This leader who is eying the elections is putting their best foot forward to woo the party high command.
Ramesh Hansda, who is also has been working in the Potka block since several years, is the local favourite. During the last Assembly polls in 2005, despite in the good book of JMM supremo Shibu Soren, could not succeed in bagging the ticket.
When contacted Hansda said that he wants to serve the people of Jamshedpur however everything would rest on the party’s decision. He has applied for the party’s ticket.
Another party leader said that JMM is facing a very tricky situation this time since the margins of their candidate, Suman Mahato witnessed a steep fall during the 15th Lok Sabha election also. Party may be forced to take harsh decisions to regain the power in the State, he added.
Moreover the party’s challenges also lies on an effective seat-sharing arrangement with the Congress, its long term ally in the State as well as at the Centre. RJD would also like to cut into the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) alliance votes which will make it very difficult for the combine to get a majority.
