Four-day event begins with carnival parade on Dec 15
Jamshedpur, Dec. 12: A fine versatile actor plying his trade in Bollywood and Punjabi movies, Jimmy Shergill will be the star attraction of Jamshedpur Carnival 2018.
Shergill who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie ‘ SP Chouhan’ will perform along with Bollywood actress and former Big Boss contestant Yuvika Choudhary at the Mega Bollywood musical night in Gopal Maidan, Bistupur on December 18.
According to the organizers, Jimmy Shergill will also be promoting his Bollywood movie ‘ SP Chouhan’ slated to release in early 2019. Shergill along with Yashpal Sharma and Yuvika Choudhary are in the lead roles.
Jamshedpur Carnival (December 15 — 18, 2018), a part of Jamshedpur Winter Fest, is dotted with a number of other colourful events a vintage car rally, jockeys from Jamshedpur Riding School, bands, Bhangra, floats, live bands etc.
One of its biggest draws will be the Dance Competition, where local dance academies and schools will vie for a prize with performances on a theme that must combine various genres like Bharatnatyam, Chhau, Salsa and Hip Hop. Aspiring singers will participate in the local Sa Re Ga Ma competition. Each competition culminates in a celebrity performance, said, Jusco GM Capt. Dhananjay Mishra.
Addressing a press meet at BOC Pavilion on Wednesday, Mishra informed that the signature Carnival Parade on Dec 15 featuring Orient Band will start at 2:00 pm from Jamsetji Statue at Jubilee Park and finish at Gopal Maidan. This colourful parade will have flavours of live music bands.; contingents depicting various states and their cultures, vintage cars; horses; army band, dancers would highlight the Carnival proceedings. Citizens of Jamshedpur would join the parade.
Later, a foot-tapping dance festival on Dec 15 and celebrity performances by top rated Indian Troupe ‘Smart Steps’ will be the attraction of the evening.
The Jusco officer further stated that the musical extravaganza – Sa Re Ga Ma on Dec 16 will be followed by a special Musical Performance (8:30 pm onwards). Master Chef Competition will also be held on the same day (11:30 am onwards).
December 17 will witness finals of the Rock Band Competition and performance by celebrity band ‘TRAP’ (5:30 pm onwards).
Mega Bollywood Musical Night on December 18 will feature the popular Jubin Nautiyal band performing from 5.30 pm onwards.
A Food Festival with the support of Jamshedpur Hoteliers & Restaurant Association (JHRA) and exciting Game Zone with the support of Marwari Yuva Manch, Steel City unit, will be held on all fourdays, Mishra noted.
Food Festival will feature 25 dishes on sports personalities, informed a JHRA representative.
Chanakya Choudhary, vice president, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, said, “Jamshedpur Carnival started in 2013 with the objective to connect with the communities and at the same time to provide a platform to showcase talent of local artists. In 2013, the Carnival was funded entirely by Tata Steel and JUSCO. But over the years we have been able to get support from local industries, communities and TIS Group Companies. Co-ownership leads to a mega event and the same has happened with Jamshedpur Carnival and it is relevant to all age groups”.
Tarun Daga, Managing Director, JUSCO said that the city is all set to witness a plethora of talent in the form of its school children, social and cultural organisations, performing artists like musicians and dancers, painters and culinary experts.
The idea of Jamshedpur Carnival was conceived in 2013, spanning one and half days but it is now a 4 day event.
According to Jusco spokesperson Rajesh Rajan, Jamshedpur Winterfest 2018 website (www.jamshedpurwinterfest.in) has been recently revamped to give it a fresh, energetic and vibrant look, to reflect the spirit of Jamshedpur during the event. The new website is highly informative, with a countdown on the latest events and their respective locations, on the landing page itself. The users can also subscribe to the website, and pop-ups of the latest events would automatically be sent to them.
