Jamshedpur: Chief Minister Raghubar Das performed kanya puja on the occasion of Maha Navami at ShitlaMandir in Bhalubasa on Thursday. Das worshipped 501 girls below the age of 12 years, offered each of them a chunri, and bhog.
Talking to the media persons after kanya puja, CM said, girls and women play an important role in the development of a state. “Our government is focused towards creating an environment which would ensure education to every child’, added Das. The CM also said the idea of progress is inconceivable without taking along women.
“Every child has the right to read. If the daughter reads, then she will work to impart the whole society with her knowledge. Following our culture and traditionwe are feeding more than 500 girls and have taken blessings from them. I pray that Mother Goddess Durga should give such power that results into uninterrupted happiness, prosperity and peace in the State,” noted Das.
The Chief Minister said that Kanya Puja has been our culture for centuries and in our Vedic scriptures it is said that the worship of women is must. Keeping our culture intact, we have to work together to make women more empowered. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also launched BetiBachao campaign so that women should be respected and all the people work together to take the daughters of the country together.
The Chief Minister said that the prime minister has made stringent laws for the protection of women and children by bringing ordinance in Parliament. He said that in the coming years, women will play a significant role in the advancement and progress of the state and our government will work with constant devotion towards women in the economic-social empowerment.
After the kanya puja, the Chief Minister visited several Durga Puja pandals in the city including TuilaDungri, Mill Area Sakchi, Golmuri Puja pandal, and worshiped Goddess Durga. CM prayed for peace and prosperity of Jharkhand.
