Jamshedpur: After days of hectic campaigning , it was time for poll candidates to unwind themselves on Sunday.
Congress candidate Banna Gupta milked his cow and gardening at his residence in Kadma while independent Saryu Roy read newspapers at his temporary home at Vijaya Gardens in Baridih.
BJP’s Devendra Nath Singh spent time solving poll trends with his close aides at his home in Sonari.
“Bannaji loves to spend time with cows. He had no time to do this as campaigning kept him busy. He felt very relaxed,” said one of Congressman and former agriculture minister Gupta’s aides.
BJP rebel Roy, who is contesting against CM Raghubar Das in Jamshedpur East , took time off to know what has come out in newspapers.
“Saryuji rises early. He took a little rest today and also read newspapers. Also spoke to us about yesterday’s elections,” an aide said.
Singh, who was handed over BJP ticket in place of Roy from Jamshedpur West, is also an early riser. He met his confidantes to discuss polling and later visited an acquaintance who is undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital.
After poll, candidates brainstorm on voting trends, party workers engage in calculation.
“I have been following a strict routine ever since I was declared the candidate. I used to leave home early and used to return late evening. Today I am enjoying the much-needed break,” said Gupta.
With few days left for the election counting to begin, contestants and their supporters are fully engrossed in the guesswork as to their political fortunes which remain sealed in the EVMs inside strong rooms of Jamshedpur Co-operative College.
BJP district president Dinesh Kumar said that the state is gripped with Modi mania and even exit polls projected that the BJP will sweep the election. The party is assured to win in Jharkhand too. “On the basis of the reports received so far from the constituency, we are confident that BJP candidates from Jamshedpur.
