Jamshedpur: Students suicide is a serious cause of concern, particularly in Jamshedpur. Keeping this in mind, ‘Jeevan’, city’s suicide prevention centre, organised a meeting with the Principals and coordinators of schools from all over the town to discuss the strategies to reduce the stress level of students and help in making school environment ‘stress free zones’, at a city hotel on Saturday.
Ronald D’Costa, a prominent citizen of Jamshedpur inaugurated the Session. Schools are conducting several types of programs to provide stress free environment to students.
‘Jeevan’, appraised them about the methodology of evolution of their programs for awarding the ‘Jeevan Trophy” . Suggestions were also received to bring more schools in the annual competition for the Trophy.
Dr Manoj Kumar Sahoo, a well known psychiatrist from TMH spoke on the causes of stress among students and how to handle them. Teachers also need to be sensitized to enable them identify affected students in time and to take corrective action. A new format of Jeevan Help line was given for inclusion in the School Diary.
Anita Ghosh of KPS Burmamines thanked Jeevan for taking the initiative to help the students. She mentioned that tips given by Jeevan from time to time have really helped to bring the stress among students down.
