Jamshedpur: Sandhya Pradhan (55) from Utkramit Uchcha Vidyalaya, New Colony, Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharswan near Jamshedpur has been selected for the National Award to Teachers conferred by the Union ministry of human resource development.
Pradhan is expected to receive the coveted award from President Ramnath Kovind at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on September 5 this year.
Pradhan was nominated by the state education department along with two other teachers- Sweta Sharma from Madhya Vidyalaya, Vivekanand, Deoghar and Manoj Kumar Choubey from Madhya Vidyalaya Dwari Giddor, Chatra. The three gave a final presentation of their contribution last week at NCERT (National Council for Education, Research and Training) hall in New Delhi, Pradhan was selected for the award.
The teachers have been shortlisted from the district level, followed by the state level and now they will compete at the national level. Sandhya Pradhan who has been shortlisted for her contribution at the Rajyakrit Odia Madhya Vidyalaya in Adityapur where she was earlier posted.
“Its an honour for me . My efforts to enrich the life of children. Being a teacher of government school and getting this award is no less than a blessing. I couldn’t have expected more. I would like to shape future of country by teaching students,” said Pradhan .
She is known for adopting novel means to teach students. She has also helped upgrade the infrastructure of the school increasing it to 20 rooms from two, building a hall, toilets. She has also introduced dance and a library room. The school also had no dropout with 100 per cent results.
